You may have seen them waving at you in the petstore. Or maybe you saw one in a cup at Walmart and fell in love. Perhaps you’re just an invert enthusiast. Whatever the reason, you’ve just brought home your cute little fiddler pal. Welcome to the world of fiddler crabs!

Fiddler crabs are small crabs from the genus Uca, family Ocypodidae. Related to ghost crabs, there are over 94 recognized species. Fiddler crabs are found all over the world. Male fiddler crabs have an enlarged claw, along with a smaller claw. Female fiddlers have two small claws. The males use their claws for mating displays, territorial disputes, and to some extent, self defense.
